Is there a website which gives advice on how to connect TVs and DVD players?

I have a Samsung 14'; TV/VCR. I'd like to connect it to my JVC component system (including DVD player) so I can watch DVDs on the Samsung. I bought a set of component cables and I thought sure I had it connected right, but no picture (just blue screen). How do I get these two to talk to each other?

These are the connections I made:

JVC yellow (';VCR In';) %26lt;----%26gt; Samsung yellow (';Video Input';)

JVC white (';VCR Audio In';) %26lt;----%26gt; Samsung white

(';Audio Input';)

Red (audio) connectors not used (obviously it's a mono TV).

The yellow and white ';input'; jacks on the Samsung are the only jacks on the TV.

There is also a yellow ';Video Out'; jack on the JVC but it doesn't work either.

What am I doing wrong?

Is it impossible to play DVD's this way?Is there a website which gives advice on how to connect TVs and DVD players?

Hope this helps. I googled ';connect tv dvd';Is there a website which gives advice on how to connect TVs and DVD players?
Before you buy an RF modulator; as mentioned you must connect the OUTPUTS from your JVC component system to the INPUTS of your Samsung TV. You will use either a white (L ch) or red (R ch) OUTPUT on your JVC system to connect to the white (mono) AUDIO INPUT on your Samsung TV.

You connect an Input to an input, which will never work.

Connect Video Out (DVD) to Video In (TV).

Make sure on the TV you switch the input to ';Video Input';
check this page out its a really good one
