I am also interested to learn which programmes are popular for this.
At the moment I am looking at Quark. What do you think and why?Can anyone tell me which computers are best for DTP applications? Any particular spec advice?
Apple Macs are better for DTP.
Im a Graphic Designer and i use a Mac at work, which im using now and have multiple pc's at home.
On the Mac i use Quark, Photoshop, illustrator, Freehand, Indesign and various others.. i find the Macs alot better and faster.. there's less resources working in the background compared to a pc. They are cleaner/crisper and so much easier to use compared to the pc.
Also look better to, just a shame there expensive.
As for a pc, i have got a E6300 overclocked to 3.1gz and 2GB ram with ATI 3850, great gaming machine etc.. but it does stuggle to do some work in photoshop.
If your looking for a pc then i would go for a dual core processor or even a quad core, either a E6750 or Q6600 these are great processors, fairly cheap and will do the job.
Also 4gb memory would be great, but this you would need a 64 bit operating system which is one reason why i prefer Macs as there are problems with 64bit operating systems and drivers etc.. + im not sure if Quark/Photoshop would work on a 64bit operating system therfor my advise would be to get a mac.Can anyone tell me which computers are best for DTP applications? Any particular spec advice?
Apple traditionally. although windows based pcs' are probably on a par with them presently in regards to application availability ect.
