I really like horses but they do scare me. a friend of mine got crushed by one once and nearly died, so I am a bit nervous. Another friend is taking me to meet her horse so any tips to put my cowardly mind at rest would be helpful. I really want to enjoy and am excited, but also worried, I want to get bitten by the bug (not the horse)Horsey question: I am going to meet my first horse on thurs, any advice?
when you go up to him, be sure not to raise your hands or anything in front of his face. some horses kind of freak out if you do. you can also take some pieces of carrots and give them to him. be sure to pet him and he will love you. NEVER WALK BEHIND HIM IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW HE WILL ACT!!Horsey question: I am going to meet my first horse on thurs, any advice?
I think this will actually make your decision a bit easier. If the horse makes you feel nervous don't buy it. I bought the sweetest horse ever but she still turned out to be a challenge and going from riding school horses to experienced horses is a whole new world. Taking time to buy a horse that makes you feel safe when your around it is time well spent and is better than spending money on training bills and other sorts later. Go for a horse thats easier than what you think you can handle because you can never be prepared for having your own horse because a lot of responsability lies on you. I don't want to make you more nervous just if you buy a horse and you think its a bit of a challenge for you but itll be ok it probably wont be you will just get put off riding and buying a horse suitable for you and sound will strengthen your liking for horses.
when you go just let the horse sniff your hand a little like you would to a strange dog. then ask your friend if she has any treats and see if you can give the horse one. then just start by petting him on the neck or somewhere where you feel comfortable. ask the owner if they know where his *sweet*spot is and scratch him there. Also horses can sense what your feeling(nervous scared excited etc..) so if the horse is a calm all around horse he will sense that you are scared and make sure he is extra careful around you. however if he is a young and rambonctious horse he may feed of you fear and become jittery and flighty himself so ask the owner what he is like and make sure the owner is there with you. you'll be fine horses are great animals. there is a place down where i live called s.m.i.l.e.s. and they are a horse farm. at this farm disabled kids and kids that were abused and dont talk or any kid can come and pet, brush and or ride the horses. They use the horses as therapy and it works. there was this girl who had a disability where she couldnt talk well so she just didnt talk. this lasted a couple of years and so they took her there and she started talking like there was no tomorrow, and now her language has improved. well i hope you have fun!!!!!
Horses love mints...or any other treat. Speak softly and make no sudden movements that might spook the horse into attacking. Don't be rough with it.
Eventually...they'll get used to you and it'll show that they like you! If you're nasty to them at any time...they'll remember and will either ignore you, run away or attack. Be nice and they'll love you.
You'll be fine. They're quite nice animals.
Take a packet of Polo mints with you, it will be your friend for life.

Who can give me professional advice how to get out of serious debt? I am a family man with a good job.?
I am an engineer, married, and have 3 children. The mortgage and credit cards devour my complete salary. House prices have dropped here in Germany - I still owe more that the house is worth. The strain is taking a serious toll on our mental health.Who can give me professional advice how to get out of serious debt? I am a family man with a good job.?
Take the Dave Ramsay approach. Pare down your life to the bare minimums, he calls it ';beans and rice, rice and beans';, no vacations, sell your expensive car for a beater, etc. Then start concentrating on each debt, one at a time, smallest one first, minimum payments on the rest, until the smallest one is done. Then proceed to the next. He is on the radio, internet and satellite (XM/Sirius).Who can give me professional advice how to get out of serious debt? I am a family man with a good job.?
I can't give much advice but cutting the phone -which you obviously need because you are on the internet.
You already know who you owe money to, so write to them telling them how much you can afford to pay them a week/month. If you find you can't pay anything then your wife needs to work (if she doesn't already). If she can't work she needs to find a way to make money from home. It isn't worth allowing debt to pull you both apart. You can only write to the people and explain your situation. I don't know if they have bankruptcy over in Germany but that would clear your debt. I was once advised not to take that route because it is demeaning and the stress is just as bad as being in debt.
Stop worrying about it though because it doesn't take the problem away it just stops you thinking clearly and causes untold stress.
You are obviously trying to pay your bills off as quickly as possible - ask the credit card people if they would stop adding interest as it just makes the bills bigger - I would mention that it is taking a terrible toll on the family and if you can't pay them you will have to declare yourself bankrupt which you would prefer not to do because you like to clear your debts.
I wish you all the best - I have been there and know what it's like - I didn't owe a lot of money but I owed money. I pray you find a way and can look back and say to your wife ';we got through it';
Take care
Pay off the most expensive card first but pay off the minimum on the others. Once the expensive one is paid off use that money to pay off the others. Cut up cards when finished. Cut your spending radically . Take your own lunch. Economise. Sell of old possesions, take in a lodger. Catch the bus to work ,only have one car. Buy second hand . Shop at aldi. Good luck
get in touch with payplan Im with them I had serious debts,Im now getting there they have a website do get in touch as I know about sleepless nights guts rumbling and worse of all lies.
Have you tried Myvesta? They are a not for profit debt help organisation in the UK

pay your mortgage and screw the credit cards as long as they are not secured on your house they cant take it , see a financial advisor to sort it for you
Write down all of your expenditure on a daily basis, both you and your wife, you would be surprised the amount of money you waste on a daily basis on silly things, and cut out what is not absolutely necessary.
Cut up your credit cards. See if you can negotiate with your bank
for reduced payments on your house for a few months to ease the strain.
Ask for a raise, overtime to bring in more money, and sorry if your wife does not work, then maybe you both ought to look at her working, if it not possible because of the children,see if there is something she can work at in the home.
Good luck with this I hope it helps.
I have been there. Start by realising that there is a problem and go from there. Either get sound financial advice or;-
1/ Pair most things down to the minimum. Lose holidays, put away the mobile, just don't use it. If anyone asks any questions tell them. I did and they respected that I no longer buy rounds in bars etc.
2/ Pay the minimum on all of your debts but allways meet the mortgage.
3/ Start using cash and cut up the cards. I used a pack of envelopes, 拢5.00 per week for utilitiy bills put in and marked off. 拢25.00 per person for food a week. Take just the cash to the supermarket and that way you wont spend too much. Depending on the age of the children they can be involved. They can help plan the meals and make certain that you stick to the plan. Snacks and treets cost a lot.
4/ Concentrate on one debt and pay off more than required. This should should be a high cost debt- high interest. Once this debt is paid off then use the now avaliable cash to concentrate on the next debt and so on.
5/ The hardest, you have to change your life style and that of your family.
This is from taking sandwidges to work, your family doing the same etc. You don't have to lose the family over this but it can mean that instead of the children having the latest bikes, game stations they have time with Mum and Dad. In the long run it can bring the family closer.
6/ You have to be strong. As soon at the plan is in place and working you will see that it is workable.
if you are in a good job try to test the market on house offer then downsize it ain't worth your health mate notify your employer for poss able overtime your wife may work if not try renting it out wile you look for cheaper rent
Hun this is real advise......sort out your priority debts from your none priority
priority debts ...;morgage/water/ household living/ gas/ ele ...etc
none priority debts... credit cards....overdrafts etc
wright each one a letter with you ref number explaining the difficulty your having...by law they can not refuse you this you can also ask them to stop the interest etc ..
there are leaflets out there that explain exactly how to sort your finances out
or
you can go to the c.a.b and they will do all this for you......for nothing....
I am currently seeing my financial advisor about an IVA. That is an Individual Voluntary Agreement. It is a five year plan that will see all of my debts paid off. Anything over that will get wiped out after the term ends. Some debts cannot be 'written-off' but most can. It is quite involved but it is a viable option. When it starts your creditors cannot contact or pester you anymore. The weight off your mind will be worth the aggro. Try it, you've got nothing to lose.
Good luck.
i feel so much for you! my husband is in the forces and its not a great wage and every month the money has gone even before its come in loans credit cards etc but listening to martin lewis on bbc radio 2 helped and now i subscribe to his money saving tips every week and check his web site every day he really has helped us. i hope you get it sorted soon
My friends got out of debt by simply not spending money. They did this by developing a budget and managing to it. They stopped buying ';toys.'; That is, don't buy depreciating assets. Don't buy a car, TV, cell phone, etc. If it does not add to the value of your estate, don't buy it. It's a very painful change in behavior, but, financially speaking, it works.
I think you need debt crisis counselling; they can help you manage your money and may even be able to get some of the credit written off.
You don't say how far in debt you are, but its time to cut down on your expenditure to the minimum, and sell as many of your unwanted items as you can. Do some car boot sales and have a clear out.
I hope every member of the family is aware that there is no money to spare, and doesn't waste any. All you should be spending money on is the utility and credit card bills and food.
You need to analyse every area of expenditure and figure out how to cut back. I know the cost of living can be quite high, especially if you have 3 kids, but if you cannot manage on 1 wage your wife also has to find work.
go and see a proper finacial advisor maybe at your bank seek Professional help it will ease your mind and burdens their is always something that can be done to help.
You and me both......
Best of luck.....and if you find a solution...I would be most grateful for any help!
send me as many BMWs as you can and I will sell them on ebay
we can both get rich. No seriously you need to consolidate your credit into 1 which will reduce you monthly out goings. our buy a house in the UK to rent the market here is going mad. house prices can rise 10 -15 thousand in 3 to 4 months on the right house. you could even rent for a year then sell. and boom !!!!
buy to let is big here.

When you started to have a family of your own, you must try to be at home during the time of storm....etc....
Taking it word for word, it will only be applicable when there is a big storm that will hit your area. But when I started to build my own home, with my wife and my children, then, I realized that my father wanted me to be a responsible person and should always attend to my family, not only to a disaster but everytime when your family needed you most.
Son whatever it is you do in life, be the best doing it, even if it is selling drugs do it better than anyone anywhere. not that he was promoting selling drugs or negativity just be the best I could ever be.

uhm, funny: my fiance's dad used to tell him and his big sister when they were young to ';go play in traffic'; when they were being irritating. My fiance cried the first time, because he thought his dad was being serious.
I had a lot of backstabbing friends in high school, my mom promised me that someday it all wasn't going to matter and I wouldn't be friends with anyone from high school anymore. She was right.
My mom used to tell me I could talk to her about anything. So one day I came home from school and asked her what a blo w jo b was. She asked me never to say that word again and told me to call it a BJ. She never did answer my original question though.

Advice... Im not sure
But i remember when I was really young and 'uncool', my dad and I went for a walk. Not usually a very mushy-gushy man. But we had a heart to heart and he told me I was a pretty girl. I dont know, doesn't sound like much, but at the time it really touched my heart.
Add: Oh I remember another one. My mom told me to never tell my family that I hate them, (out of anger) because you will always be sure to regret it at some point.
My dad always asks me if I have a knife with me. Whenever I go on a trip, out with friends, or even the grovery store at night. He even asks my boyfriend if you carries one. It's hilarious. I do keep one in my glove box and next to my bed to keep him happy lol.

What is the best relationship advice you've ever gotten?
im just a little curious to see what kind of things people have to say because everyone has their own views about relationships. if you see someone's answer that is a good piece of advice, give them an 'ol thumbs up! if you like my question star it:)What is the best relationship advice you've ever gotten?
Dump her and go out with me was the best advice I ever got. I did dump her and went out with the other woman and guess what happened? I married her 45 years ago and we are still going strong.
Dump her and go out with me was the best advice I ever got. I did dump her and went out with the other woman and guess what happened? I married her 45 years ago and we are still going strong.
Why do feminists who claim they are single think they can offer relationship advice to other women?
Feminists seem to like to have in mind an idea of ';how a relationship should work';, ';what men have to do to please women';, ';what women should do to make a relationship work'; etc. etc.
But at the same time claim things like they are independent or will never get married. Most will never be in a relationship for the rest of their lives and have been through some sort of painful divorce or separation, were ';abused';, dumped etc.
What makes them think they can give relationship advice if they are an abject failure at relationships themselves?
Furthermore many feminists are lesbians, yet still persist in giving heterosexual women relationship advice? Why? They know the least about men out of anyone. Men know about men, white men do, black men do, a transsexual arguably knows about men, heterosexual women may know something about men, but lesbians?
They know nothing.
So why do they think they are an anywhere near decent source of relationship advice?Why do feminists who claim they are single think they can offer relationship advice to other women?
I have asked the same question before. If their own relationships rarely work out, why would they try to advise other women? It was the same with some of the most prominent feminist leaders of the 70's. They weren't married and they didn't plan to marry, yet they thought they knew best for all the married women and thought they knew how they felt about marriage. I read an old, old newspaper article about one of the early feminists...I believe it was Elizabeth Cady Stanton...and it said she spoke at a big convention and her husband was so distraught he left town. I'll bet she was real happy in her marriage, don't you?Why do feminists who claim they are single think they can offer relationship advice to other women?
';Furthermore many feminists are lesbians, yet still persist in giving heterosexual women relationship advice?';
How do you know this? Is there some kind of credible site that lists the statistics of how many feminists are homosexual versus heterosexual?
If not, don't generalize.
Besides, I have to agree with Wendy.
You're the pot calling the kettle black, eh?
Where did you get your information about feminists? Seems as you know nothing about the subject. Who do you think worked so hard for women to have the right to own property and be able to vote? They were married feminists. Just because they are single does not mean they are not in a relationship. Ever hear of Susan B. Anthony, Alice Stokes Paul, or Elizabeth Cady Stanton? Enlighten your self. Take a college course called Women's Studies.
Calm down dearie, its only advice and opinions. Doesn't mean what anyone's saying is right or wrong in relationships. These people probably have been in relationships before and are just giving their account of their experiences, likes and dislikes. A lot of lesbians may have gone out with guys in the past before coming to realise their true sexuality.
Everybody is capable of giving advice, regardless of their situation. Loads of single men give advice to other men about women, and wtf do they know??
You need to get a grip.
to give advise they had to had a bad relanship there selves in my opion?
I won't go into the whole feminism argument.
But...
To be able to give advice, you don't have to have been in the situation yourself, or even practice the advice you preach - in fact, the only person who has ever been in exactly the same situation is you.
Because they have clear heads and know that most guys are only about one thing that some of their sisters are not aware of.
Here is my advice for relationships. Don't get too attached!
That's probaly why I am still single.
Because you are not attached doesn't mean you know nothing about these relationships and how it works..
';my spouse commits adultary all the time despite me giving him/her chances what should I do';
';I don't know I am not married yet I have no idea what it is like getting cheated on in a marriage so I am not entitled to give you my opinion';
';My boyfriend blah blah blah';
';I'm a lesbian, so I don't know anything about relationships except for lesbians relationships because we all know that the romantic love between two women is very different from the romantic love between a men and a woman';
You have shown a very ignorant thinking in your post. Many single women and men have friends who are not single and we see and hear a lot of things.
That's funny, I see YOU on here all the time offering ';dating advice'; to guys who come to this forum to ask women for advice. Yet, you are a confirmed ';marriage boycotter,'; who hates women, and only wants to ';use'; them (as you seem to think they are useless for anything else). There is no way you have ever had anything close to a functional, healthy relationship with a woman, ANY woman. You completely objectify women, so why do you think that YOU can offer advice to men seeking knowledge from women?
Lesbians know nothing? I thought you had cornered that market with you constant insults towards others.
Being a femanist has nothing to do with sexual preference. Being a femanist means being for equality and respecting eachother. Personally I'd rather have advice from someone who has had failed relationships to learn from what they did, or didn't do...and to me a relationship is a relationship be it heterosexual or not. Oh, and men can be femanists too, not just women. I know some guys who are femanists and who are heterosexual and some of the nicest and most respectful guys you could ever meet. And yet you say femanists know nothing. What makes you an expert on relationships and femanism?
You wouldn't ask a mechanic for advice on mixing drinks, so why would you ask ANYONE who is single for advice on relationships? Rule of thumb: As long as that person is single and probably wasn't successful in his/her previous relationships, there's no reason to ask him/her for love advice.
Being feminists has got nothing to do with sexual orientation. Just because some claim to be able to provide sound advice to women about relationships doesn't mean they are right/wrong or if we should/shouldn't listen to them. Feminists are just people, and people do make mistakes sometimes.
because they know how they WANT to have a relationship to go.. but those ideal relationships don't always work out..
but i don't think that all feminists are lesbians.. and they do know some stuff..
They haven't been single forever, you know. Many feminists have been in love before 鈥?with MEN, too!
yeah, I'm wondering the same thing myself.
Every Woman has Her own opinion about everything. Some of Them are right. More often that not They are merely giving voice to Their own anger and frustration, Self contempt and heartbreak. If is, after all Human nature to interfere in the affairs of others. I'm (We all are) doing it right now.
